John Kanabay

I am Master John Kanabay and part of Team Hayabusa. I have been involved in martial arts for over 30 years. In my time training and teaching I have found a number of ways to improve which result in creating champions and enhancing performance. I believe creative thinking and understanding your abilities are key.
As a competitor
Breaking: I am the first ever Light Weight to win the US Open’s World title of Ultimate Breaking Champion in 2017. I also hold Multi - ISKA World Champion titles. Until Covid, I was on stage at all of the 5a and 6a NASKA events during the night shows to perform exciting creative breaking routines. I hold the current competition ISKA record for 3D breaking.
MMA Coaching: Where I am comfortable in all areas of the mma systems, I would say my expertise is in stand up striking. My fighters have always been able to create KO power in their strikes regardless of weight class. My current highest rank fighter as fought for Bellator and is the current CFFC title holder.
Traditional Forms/Weapons: I have been a ranked NASKA trad forms & weapons competitor. I have coached and instructed a large number of students. I hold black belts in Karate as well as TaeKwonDo, so I understand the differences and the strengths of both trad systems.
Business and Marketing: I enjoy helping people brand their business, refine the classes, and create brand marketing. As an example of my creative abilities to pivot with the times; in April I created the first online interactive class of its kind. I set the record for the World’s Largest Class and raised money for Project CURE.
I am happy to help anyone willing to learn! Osu!!
